The gritty streets of Soho

I’ve been out shooting in Soho today – and I must say, it’s a great location. We didn’t even venture far either side of the Charing Cross Road – just an alleyway either side – but the nooks and crannies you can come across are great.

Even just the walls are full of interesting bits and pieces – broken lights, rusted pipes, boarded-up windows and painted signs. Light filters down these narrow streets really well, and where you have bits of building built over the top of them, the tunnels let you play around with sillhouettes really nicely.

As you can see from the map, we took in three locations before my memory cards packed in and decided they were full. The two alleys either side of Charing Cross Road are nice and quiet, which is surprising given how close they are to the main bustle on the road. There’s coffee nearby, which is always good. Even better, the green, leafy squares of Bloomsbury are only five minutes’ walk away – perfect for changing background ultra-quickly for some starkly contrasted images.

I’m still downloading the images from today, but I’ll get a few up later tonight and tomorrow – some are just fantastic, so I won’t be able to resist showing them off :)
