In current use (i.e. what is in my bag ready to go when I need):

Semi-retired:

  • Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II with a 55mm UV filter – currently broken. Works decently stopped down to around f/8 and below, but anything higher and it becomes too soft (I might have dropped it – the barrel came out…)
  • Canon EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 IS -replaced by the 17-40 f/4L above
  • Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6

Computer:

  • 27″ iMac (3.06GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 1TB HDD) – although I’ve had very minor screen flickering problems, these are rare and easily fixed. It’s amazing for photos – nice big screen, powerful enough not to break into a sweat even when rendering 1:1 previews for several hundred photos at once.
  • MacBook Air (1.6GHz C2D, 2GB RAM, 80GB HDD) – not a recommendation! I won it, and it serves me fairly well, but the tiny, slow hard drive is simply not good enough for even my fairly light usage. Get a real MacBook at the very least instead. It serves fairly well for an on-the-go machine, but it’s not for every day use.
  • Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.2
  • Adobe Photoshop CS4
  • (I usually import with the Canon software that came with my camera, since I have that set up to organise imported files how I want it. Also, means I can do any super-quick edits with Digitial Photo Professional.)
